West Coast Leather's Mad Max Replica Boots

Finally - a Mad Max boot replica! These boots, available from West Coast Leather Factory, are fairly accurate replicas based on the Rossiter's boots I found in Sydney (see below). For no more than US$250, they will build you a pair from scratch - custom made to your measurements! Check their auctions on eBay for great starting bids. If you're a stickler for details like I am, insist on accurate buckles and soles. I have not purchased a pair of these myself, but I have seen a couple of pairs that could've been more accurate.

Rossi Boots

I found these boots in a second-hand clothing shop in Sydney. They are with little doubt the style and brand that Max wears. They were made by Rossiter's of Adelaide, Australia. Although the company is still in business and still makes motorcycle boots, this style is not available anymore. This pair differs from the pair Max wears in that the soles are not leather.
Measurements: The boots are approximately 14 inches/ 36 cm from top to bottom. Distance from top of heel to top of boot: 33cm. Width of vertical band on back of boots: 2.5cm. Width of side belt loops: 2.8cm. Total length of a side belt loop: 10cm. Distance between bottom of V-cut to top of boot: 3.5cm. Length of cuts on the side of V-cut: 2cm. Anyone is welcome to e-mail me with questions. For those of you who are curious, Rossiter's exclusive USA distributor is Simply Australian.

Mike Woodhouse's replica boots.

Boots custom-made by Dehner. Cost is about US$350. Contact Dee Sorenson at www.dehner.com. These replica boots are based on their Wellington boots. Mike ordered his with black buckles and synthetic soles so he could use them at work.

Goose

Goose's style Hi-Points in comparison to all four generations.

Goose wears 2nd-generation, six-strap Alpine Star Hi-Point boots. His boots may be unusual because they are missing the small metal pieces riveted to the bottom of the front flaps, as pictured above. The boots are no longer in production, but can still be found regularly on eBay.

Alternatives from Underground Shoes, Alpinestars and MSR.

Underground Shoes offers the Mad Max, and the steel-toed Dredd St. For the U.S. Underground Shoes site, click here. Alpine Star offers a third-generation look-alike. MSR offers today's version of the Alpinestars Hi-Point boot. You can order them at your local motorcycle gear shop, or order them online. Note: the new Hi-Points are very big. They will go up to the knees. So unless you're a motorbike rider and want the added protection, try to get some of the older, smaller versions on eBay.

CLASSICBOOTS.COM has an excellent display of various Hi-Point boots, as well as engineer boots, and leather jackets. NOTE: This site incorrectly claims that Goose wore 3rd generation, 5-strap Hi-Point boots.
